Alerts & daily summary

Busroot emails people when a station stops and when the stop ends, and sends a daily downtime summary at 07:00. These emails keep managers informed and help them react quickly, even when they are not logged in to Busroot.

Each user chooses which emails they get, for each station group, on the Notification Preferences page.

Stop alerts

When Busroot detects that a station has stopped, it emails everyone who chose All Issues for that station's group:

  • Unexpected downtime: sent when the stop is detected. It names the station and has a link to the stop in Busroot, where you can acknowledge it.
  • Issue resolved: sent when the stop ends, with a link to view it.

The emails do not include the downtime reason, even if an operator has given one.

A stop is detected once the station has been idle for longer than its downtime threshold, so the first email arrives after the threshold, not the moment the machine stops. The thresholds, and how stops are detected, are described in Downtime. They are set on the Station page.

Stop alerts only work for stations that detect downtime. The station's Downtime Detection Mode must be Production Cycle Monitoring, Utilisation Monitoring or Line Speed Monitoring (Slow Detection), not Off. See Station.

Operator escalations

When an operator escalates an issue from the Operator Interface, Busroot sends an Issue escalated email to the same users as stop alerts. This needs no change to the station's settings.

Daily summary

At 07:00 each day, Busroot emails a downtime summary for the previous day to everyone who chose Include for a station group. For each of those station groups the email shows:

  • the stations in the group;
  • the group's total downtime;
  • the downtime for each reason, with its share of the total and its duration.

The summary uses downtime by reason and total downtime. The email has a link to change your notification preferences.

Setup

  1. Make sure each station detects downtime: set its Downtime Detection Mode and threshold on the Station page.
  2. Make sure each station is in a station group. Preferences are set per group.
  3. Each user opens Notification Preferences and chooses, for each station group, All Issues for stop alerts and Include for the daily summary. You can only set your own preferences.

FAQs

How do the downtime email notifications work?

You get one email when a stop starts and one when it ends. The emails do not tell you the reason the operator gave. To see the reason, follow the link in the email, or use the Downtime List.
