3 Phase < 4000A¶
This setup measures three-phase supplies up to 4000 A. It has three parts:
- the Carlo Gavazzi EM210 energy meter with Rogowski coils
- the Arduino Opta data collection unit
- the Blues Wireless for Opta cellular module (optional; see Arduino Opta cellular connectivity)
Power supply¶
The Opta and the Blues module must each be powered with 24 V DC.
The energy meter is powered from the mains supply it monitors. See the manual for the wiring for different numbers of phases.
Communication¶
The Opta and the Blues module connect through a built-in connector. Make sure the two units are firmly pushed together.
The energy meter and the Opta communicate over RS485. Wire it during installation according to the manual linked below. For the EM210 and Opta, connect A to B and B to A.
Rogowski coils¶
Wire each coil into the energy meter according to the diagram on the device. Then open each coil and place it around the phase it monitors.

Energy meter parameters¶
When the meter is installed and powered on, set these parameters:
| Parameter | Value |
|---|---|
| SYS | 3P |
| bAud | 19,2 |
| SEnSOr | roG |
The manual explains how to navigate the menu and set parameters, under "Menu map" and "Parameter menus". The default password for the parameter menu is 0.
