Getting Started

Busroot needs some context before its numbers mean anything: where your plant is, when your stations are meant to run, and which reasons people can give for a stop. Every dashboard and analysis tool in Busroot, including the Cockpit, OEE Analysis, Production Progress, the Trend Viewer and the Pulse Chart, uses these settings. If they are missing or wrong, the figures, KPIs and reports are wrong too.

To have a new account set up, contact support@output.industries.

  1. Go to your Busroot address, for example https://eu-west-2-2.busroot.com.
  2. Enter your work email address and select Log in. There is no password.
  3. Open the email Busroot sends you and click the link in it. Busroot opens, logged in.

Everyone in your team logs in the same way. Anyone with an email address on your company's own domain can log in without being added first. They start with the Read Only role. See Users for roles and for adding people from other domains.

The first person to log in should tell the Busroot support team, who will make them an Admin. You need the Admin role for the setup steps below.

If your company uses Microsoft Entra ID, you can also log in with Microsoft. See Microsoft SSO.

Operator Interface screens and TV displays log in with an access code instead of an email address, so they are not logged out. See Access codes.

If the login email doesn't arrive

Check these first. They are the most common causes:

  • Look in your spam or junk folder.
  • Check whether it happens to everyone, or only to you.
  • Check whether it started recently, for example after a change to your IT system or email provider.
  • Try the link in a login email you received earlier.

If you still can't log in, contact support and tell us what you found.

Set up your account

Do these steps in order, under Admin in the Busroot menu. They are needed for every capability.

  1. Plant. Name your plant and set its timezone (for example Europe/London for UK time).
  2. Shift Patterns. Create one or more shift patterns that match when your stations work. You can give a pattern to a whole station group or to one station.
  3. Station Groups and Stations. Create your station groups. Then, for each station, set its name, choose its station group and choose its shift pattern. You can also set an idle cost per minute.
  4. Reasons. Your account starts with a set of general downtime and non-production reasons. Edit, delete or add to them to match your operation.
  5. Notification Preferences. Choose which emails you want: an email when a stop happens, a daily downtime summary, or both.
  6. SKUs. Add the products you make, with their performance target. You need SKUs to track production.
  7. Users. Give your team the right roles once they have logged in.
  8. Access codes. Create an access code if you will use the Operator Interface or a TV display.

Codes are permanent

You can't change the code of a plant, station group, station or SKU after you save it. You can change the name at any time. To use a different code, delete the item and create it again with the new code. A station's recorded data stays with its old code, so don't do this for a station that already has data. See Account Manifest.

Next: choose a capability

Each capability needs a signal or some more settings. Its Connect section tells you what to set up.

  • Asset Utilisation: how much of the time each asset is productive.
  • Downtime: automatic stop detection, with reasons and cost.
  • Production Tracking: what has been made, compared with the target.
  • OEE: availability, performance and quality.
  • Quality: rejected units by reason and cost.
  • Energy Efficiency: energy per station and per unit.
  • Scheduling: production and maintenance plans for each station.
  • Tasks: checklists that operators complete in the Operator Interface.
