What is Busroot?

Busroot is a manufacturing performance platform. It connects to your machines, measures how each one performs, and gives you the key manufacturing metrics in a web-based interface, ready to use.

Busroot is the single source of truth for what happens on your shop floor, both in real time and historically. You can also use its data in other reporting that needs accurate shop-floor context, such as predictive maintenance.

Capabilities and tools

These docs describe Busroot in two layers:

• Capabilities are what Busroot does for you. Each one answers a question a manager has, and owns the metrics that measure it. Each metric has one definition and one unit, and is defined only on the page of the capability that owns it.
• Tools are the places in Busroot where you see metrics or act on them. Most tools serve several capabilities.

Capabilities

• Asset Utilisation: how much of the time each asset is productive, and when it is idle.
• Downtime: detects stops automatically, and records why they happened and what they cost.
• Production Tracking: what has been made, of which SKU, compared with the target in real time.
• OEE: how close production is to its full potential, and whether the loss is in availability, performance or quality.
• Quality: rejected units recorded against a quality reason, broken down by cause and cost.
• Energy Efficiency: the energy each station and each unit uses, and the energy wasted outside production.
• Scheduling: production and maintenance plans for each station, which every other capability is measured against.
• Tasks: checklists that operators complete at the station, with an audit trail of what was done, missed or pending.

Tools

Tools are grouped by what you use them for:

• Connect (connect the shop floor): machine connectors, energy meters, the shop floor network, operator screens, MQTT and range codes.
• Control (run the shift): the Cockpit, Production Progress, the Operator Interface, alerts, the Gantt and schedules, and Schedule Capacity.
• Optimise (find the pattern): charts, tables and reports for analysing performance over time.

Who is Busroot for?

Busroot is for any manufacturer that wants to increase throughput, reduce downtime and improve energy efficiency, with a standard way to collect, manage and show shop-floor data.

Connecting your machines

Busroot is hardware agnostic. Any IoT sensor, PLC or data acquisition unit can send data to it, so you can connect machines of any age or level of automation. See Machine connectors.
